Our Projects

CFR Engineering has recently completed important CFRP structural strengthening works, delivering strong, durable, and efficient solutions to meet increased load requirements while extending the life of structures.

Bell Place

Project Overview

The structure was originally assessed at 7.5 t, but Surrey County Council required it to support up to 40 t of traffic loading. The installation of CFRP plates provided the ideal solution, delivering a strong, durable, and efficient method to meet the increased load requirements.

Solution

Installed carbon-reinforced plates manufactured and supplied by Sika, which were bonded to the structure using a high-performance Sika epoxy adhesive to enhance load capacity and structural integrity.

Materials Used

  • Sika carbon-reinforced plates
  • High-performance Sika epoxy adhesive

Gibraltar Crescent North

Project Overview

Similar to Bell Place, this structure was originally assessed at 7.5 t but required upgrading to support up to 40 t of traffic loading as specified by Surrey County Council. The installation of CFRP wraps provided the ideal solution.

Solution

Applied FRP wraps, also manufactured and supplied by Sika, providing excellent confinement, durability, and long-term reinforcement performance.

Materials Used

  • Sika FRP wraps
  • Structural epoxy resin-based adhesives

Mill House

Project Overview

As part of a building conversion into residential flats, several load-bearing walls were removed to create open-plan living spaces.

Solution

CFRP strengthening was applied to floors, walls, and adjacent joists to redistribute loads, enhance structural performance, and minimise deflection while avoiding extensive structural alterations.

Materials Used

  • Sika FRP wraps
  • Structural epoxy resin-based adhesives
